NBA Playoffs, Spurs Blast Hornets To Force Game 7

Thursday, May 15

Game 6, San Antonio. Not winning on the road continues to be the trend in this year's Western Conference semi-finals. New Orleans lost for the third time in the Alamo city last night and their series with San Antonio is now tied at 3-3. It was a must-win situation for the Spurs, who still have a chance to advance to the finals with a win in New Orleans on Monday. S.A. clearly out-played the Hornets with good shooting and good defense. The only area where the Hornets excelled the Spurs was in the paint, where they outscored them 48-28. San Antonio made 11 three-point shots (52%) compared to only 2 for N.O. (22%) and had more assists than the Hornets 28-13. The Hornets scored well in the paint and were nearly perfect in free throws (12-13), but have to score better from the perimeter and pass the ball more. David West had a sub-par game and re-injured his back in the fourth quarter. New Orleans will need him in top form for game seven. San Antonio was led by their star Tim Duncan (20 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists), Manu Ginobili (25 points) and Ime Udoka (5-5 FG, 3-3 FT, 13 points). The Spurs are going to have to pretend they're at home in order to win at N.O.. Next: Game 7, Monday, New Orleans, TBD (TNT).
