NBA Playoffs, Jazz Survive Lakers

Game 3, Friday, May 9

Utah led most of the game and held on to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 104-99. The Jazz had to shoot better to get back in the series and they finally did. They out shot the Lakers but not by much. Again the Jazz had more fouls and the Lakers more free throws (30-20). L.A. was hurt by 18 turnovers in the game. Carlos Boozer had a much better performance with 27 points and 20 rebounds for Utah. Mehmet Okur and Deron Williams also shined. Kobe Bryant was his usual self with 34 points for L.A., but most of those came in the second half. Boozer hit some clutch shots late in the game to keep the Jazz ahead, but team members missed some free throws towards the end to let the Lakers make it close. Next: Game Four at Salt Lake City, Sunday, 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Lakers lead series 2-1.
