NBA Playoffs, Second Round, Game 1, Saturday

Pistons and Hornets Sizzle

Detroit opened up the second round with a huge win over Orlando. I say "huge" because of a tough series with Philadelphia in round one. The Pistons had to come back to win that series. So to open their series with the Magic and win by a large margin, has to be comforting to Detroit. Neither team shot exceptionally well, but the Pistons shot better. I think this shows that both teams can play defense. With all of their playoff experience, one would expect the Pistons to win the first game of the series. One would also expect them to win the series, but the Magic are also capable of winning the series. Detroit leads Orlando 1-0.

San Antonio started out well, but New Orleans took it them in the second half to win game one. I didn't know the Hornets could play defense! They held Tim Duncan well below his scoring average. The Hornets have started this series strong and have to win all their home games to win this series. That alone is not going to be easy, as the Spurs don't care about the home court advantage, i.e, they can win anywhere. It would be a disappointment if this series did not go seven games.
