Game 6, Detroit. It was valiant come-from-behind effort for the Celtics, who survived the Detroit Pistons 89-81 to win the series 4-2. Network television (ABC) now gets its wish of a Celtics-Lakers NBA Finals. This should be one of the NBA's greatest match ups ever. I think the ratings will go through the roof. But back to the game. The Celtics played tough defense and made the shots they needed to erase a 10-point Piston lead in the second half. Paul Pierce led the way for the Celtics with good defense and great shooting. Pierce scored 27 in the game on 8 of 12 from the field and 10 of 13 from the free throw line. Ray Allen added 17 points (and some key shots), Kevin Garnett had 16 points and Rajon Rondo scored 11. I think that Rasheed Wallace had a tough series against Boston. His production was not what Detroit fans would have liked. Tonight was his low point with only 4 points scored on 2-12 shooting from the field. He did have 10 rebounds though. Chauncey Billup's 29 points and Rip Hamilton's 21 were not enough for the Pistons. Their only other player in double figures was Tayshaun Prince with 10. It was a close game as both teams had leads in the game. The Celtics just came out with more fire in the final quarter to get the win. The Pistons' shots just wouldn't fall at the end. Despite a great season, Detroit goes home. Next: The National Basketball Association Finals, Game 1, Thursday, Boston vs. Los Angeles Lakers, ABC.
