NBA Playoffs, McDyess and Pistons Whack Celtics

Monday, May 26

Game 4, Detroit. I guess in the playoffs, all games are must-win situations. The Detroit Pistons won their must-win game tonight over Boston 94-75. The Pistons, however, won the game without the usual players stepping up. Antonio McDyess had a huge game with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Seven of those rebounds came off the offensive glass, which was an incredible personal performance. Jason Maxiell was huge off  the bench as well with 14 points. Richard Hamilton was himself with 20 points (and good defensive play) and Rasheed Wallace had 14, but their usual gunners Chauncey Billups and Tayshaun Prince only had 17 points together. Points win games and Boston didn't have enough in this game. The big three for the Celtics had a rough night, making only 11 of 38 field goals. Pierce and Garnett had 16 points a piece, James Posey and Ray Allen scored 11 each and Kendrick Perkins make 10 and fouled out. The great thing about the playoffs is that you can play a lousy game one night and have an excellent game the next. The teams with the most consistency in their performances are the ones that win series. This series is now tied at 2-2. Next: Game 5, Wednesday, Boston, 8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN.
