NBA Playoffs, Celtics Control James again, Spurs Win "Game 7"

Thursday's Games, May 8

In San Antonio. The San Antonio Spurs had to win game 3 to stay in the series with New Orleans and did just that 110-99. The Spurs started with Manu Ginobili in the shooting guard spot and it paid off as he and Tony Parker scored 31 points each to spark S.A.. One thing that helped the Spurs win was their 3-point shooting. They made 11 compared to only two by N.O.. Besides outscoring the Hornets in the second half, the Spurs also had more assists (28-15), which means they played more as a team. Chris Paul's 35 points were outstanding, but the Hornets couldn't stop Ginobili and Parker. What a difference a day makes and for the Spurs, location is everything (playing at home). The Hornets lead the series 2-1. Game four: Sunday in San Antonio, 8 p.m. ET (TNT).

In Boston. Where in the world is LeBron James? His Cleveland Cavaliers lost another game to Boston 89-73. The Celtics out shot the Cavs, but both were horrible from 3-point land (21% Celts, 15% Cavs). It was clearly another defensive battle as Boston had more steals (11-4) and batted away more shots (7-2), but Cleveland blocked more shots (7-2). The Celtics held LeBron to 21 points (making only 6-24 shots), but you can't hold a good man down for ever, right? I think LeBron will give the Celtics all they want in Cleveland when his shots start falling. Look out Boston! The Cavaliers, as a team, didn't shoot that well either except for Ilgauskas. Losing Ben Wallace because of dizziness didn't help matters either. The Cavs are going to have to step it up when they return home to Cleveland for game three and I think they will. Boston got more points from Pierce and Allen, but they're going to have to score more for the Celtics to win this series. Boston leads the series 2-0. Game 3: in Cleveland on Saturday, 8 p.m. ET (ABC).
