NBA First Round, Games 4-5, Monday

Make shots = you win

The Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers have advanced to the second round of the NBA playoffs by scoring more efficiently that their opponents. The Magic beat Toronto last night to win the series 4-1. I have to think that Coach Stan Van Gundy has something to do with Orlando's success, but the fact is his team scored the points they needed. The Magic now play either Detroit or Philadelphia.

I think the Lakers will win the NBA Championship this year. They have the most consistent player in Kobe Bryant who brings his 'A' game every night. He also has great, experienced support this year. Defense is important but you have to be able to shoot a good percentage too, in order to win games. The bottom line is scoring more points than your opponent. That's what the Lakers have done.

Atlanta has surprised everyone I think including the Boston Celtics. With the Hawks winning for the second time at home, the series is tied at 2-2. Atlanta's young guns can flat our score! The Celtics, meanwhile, didn't make enough shots to win. They have to shoot well every night, no matter if it's at home or on the road. Boston's defense has to improve also. Then we can talk more about the possibility of a Lakers-Celtics finals.
